Hidden Gems
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Concept
The idea of the game is to essentially traverse an almost fully blacked-out map where platforms, collectable gems, and some rooms only fade in and become visible when the player is close to them. In addition to invisible items, there are fake walls that can be walked through to find power-ups. The player would also be chased by enemies that are typically seen at all times but can be obscured in secret rooms. Each level will have a different simple goal, like surviving for a certain amount of time, finding all gems, climbing to the top of a room, or killing enemies within a time limit. The buffs from finding gems would be simple such as double-jumping, faster walking speeds, higher visibility, wall jumping, and extra health.
Um...
For some reason, the game objects are no longer hidden and cannot fade in/out anymore whenever I build the project into an app file, so... I apologize for what you're about to see. (It's bad.) Additionally, the black ball is just there to test how enemies might chase the player and scale the platforms, so the "game over" screen isn't accessible due to there being no way to take damage yet.
